Overview
Riedell builds the R3 as an indoor quad skate with polyurethane wheels, rated bearings and a nylon plate. A lace-up front is backed by a Velcro cinch strap across the ankle.
Skaters stepping up to a proper boot get a clean indoor setup with a known bearing rating and a precision fit. The wheels are indoor wheels, so a rough outdoor surface will wear them down quickly.
Who it's for
Indoor skaters and recreational derby players who want a set boot with a plate and good bearings will find a direct fit. Outdoor skaters should look for outdoor wheels.
Pros and cons
- Velcro cinch strap on the ankle
- Indoor wheel set
- Indoor wheels only
- Only one size shown
- Wheel hardness not listed
Performance notes
Wheel material and diameter set grip and rolling speed, and softer polyurethane grips polished wood better. The plate carries the wheels, and the strap plus laces lock the heel so the boot responds to each push.
