Overview
Not a full-size box, the Compact Jam Cajon is a Baltic birch hand-played drum built to travel. Two sets of fixed steel snares add crisp tone, and the rear sound port enhances bass and doubles as a mic spot.
The reason to buy is the small footprint with both snare and bass voices from a birch body. The limit is that the weight is stated two ways and nothing besides the cajon is included.
Who it's for
A hand drummer who joins informal jams and needs something small enough to carry. Players who want a bag in the package, or a bigger body for deeper bass, should look at a larger model.
Pros and cons
- Compact Baltic birch body
- Two sets of snares
- Rear port boosts bass
- Non-slip silicone feet
- Weight figures conflict in the listing
- Bag not included
- Snares fixed, not adjustable
Performance notes
Baltic birch is credited in the description with balanced sound, punchy lows and clear highs. The snare wires are fixed, so their response is set by the maker, and the rear opening shapes the bass and offers a mic position. Silicone feet stabilize the box on any surface so the body can resonate.
