Overview
A brushless motor turns the cutter of this DeWalt planer at a stated high speed, with an aluminum base guiding it across the board. The listing includes a guide fence, a wrench and a users guide.
Brushless operation and a battery mean it moves freely without a cord, and the aluminum base gives a flat reference surface. The limitation is that the listing does not show a battery or charger.
Who it's for
Door trimming, edge planing and fitting work where a cord would be in the way are the typical jobs. Buyers who need a router for shaping should look elsewhere, since this is a planer.
Pros and cons
- Guide fence included
- Three year warranty
- Battery not itemized
- Shallow cutting depth
- Cutting width not listed
Performance notes
The cutter head shaves material as the base rides over the board, so the depth setting and feed speed decide how smooth the surface becomes. A shallow depth per pass gives a cleaner finish so the motor does not bog.
