Overview
A glass hydrometer dropped into the plastic test jar gives a specific gravity reading on a triple scale. The kit adds a hardcase and a cloth, and it is sold for beer, wine, mead and kombucha.
One set covers readings for several fermented drinks, and the case protects the glass between batches. The jar holds the sample for the reading. Scale ranges and accuracy are not stated.
Who it's for
Home brewers, winemakers, mead makers and kombucha fermenters who check gravity as a batch develops. People wanting a digital or automatic reading should choose a different instrument.
Pros and cons
- Triple scale hydrometer
- Plastic test jar included
- Hardcase for storage
- Works with several drinks
- Scale ranges not listed
- Glass hydrometer is breakable
- Accuracy figure missing
Performance notes
The hydrometer floats in the sample, and the level at which it settles is read on the scale. The reading depends on the sample temperature and on a clean jar. The listing does not say which temperature the scales assume.
