Overview
A rare earth magnet pulls the aluminum body onto steel studs, pipe and conduit so both hands stay free. The V-groove seats on round stock, a tapered nose reaches into corners, and the vials read level, plumb and common bend angles.
The magnet and angle vials are the reason to own it, since a tradesperson reads level and bend angle with one tool. The limitation is the short body, which cannot span a wall the way a long level can.
Who it's for
Pipe fitters, electricians and HVAC installers who work on steel and round stock get a magnetic tool that reads angles. Carpenters laying out long runs need a level with more length.
Pros and cons
- Vials for common bend angles
- Magnet holds on steel
- V-groove seats on round stock
- Tapered nose reaches corners
- Short body limits long runs
- Accuracy rating not listed
- Magnet strength not stated
- Magnet only helps on steel
Performance notes
Each vial shows its angle when the bubble centers between the marks, so a single glance covers level, plumb and the bend angles. The magnet grips ferrous surfaces and leaves the tool in place while the user adjusts the work. On round stock the V-groove centers the body along the axis, which improves the reading.
