Overview
Synth-action keys that read how hard they are struck send note data over USB to a computer, where software supplies the sound. Pitch and mod wheels and assignable controls sit beside the keybed.
Bundled recording software and cables mean the controller works with a laptop right away. It plays no sound itself, so a computer and a digital audio workstation are required. Weight and size suit a desk.
Who it's for
Right for a beginner in computer-based music who wants playable keys, wheels and starter software for a laptop. Players expecting a standalone keyboard with its own sounds will not find any.
Pros and cons

- No power supply, USB only

Performance notes
A keybed with velocity sensing records how strongly each key is struck, and that data drives virtual instruments in your recording software. Wheels bend pitch and modulation while assignable controls map to software settings.
