Overview
A hand drummer who likes to tune by rope will find this Toca djembe suited to that hands-on method. The shell uses resin and plastic with a lacquered African Sunset look.
Rope tuning lets you set the head tension yourself, which is why some players favor this style. Size, weight and head material are not listed, so confirm them before buying.
Who it's for
Suited to a player or a classroom that likes the traditional hands-on approach to tuning and a colorful drum. Buyers who want a no-tuning synthetic head should look at pre-tuned models.
Pros and cons
- Freestyle rope tuning
- Lacquered color finish
- Resin and plastic shell
- Size not listed
- Weight not listed
- Head material not stated
Performance notes
Rope tuning pulls the head tight and lets the player change pitch by adjusting the cords. The resin and plastic shell is a different material from carved wood and changes how the drum resonates.
