Overview
OWDEN sells this punch set for making clean round holes in leather, paper, canvas, plastic sheets and rubber sheets. Each punch is a hollow tube of carbon steel with a sharp cutting edge, and it works by hand.
The reason to buy is the nine hole sizes in one set, so craft projects have a punch for most situations. The limitation is that the listing does not list each diameter, and punching thick or hard material is outside what it names.
Who it's for
Leather workers, belt makers, crafters and repair users who punch clean holes will use the range of sizes. Anyone needing a specific diameter should confirm it, and metalworkers need a different punch.
Pros and cons
- Nine punches in one set
- Carbon steel construction
- Round hollow shape
- Manual, no power needed
- Individual hole sizes not listed
- Not for hard materials
Performance notes
A hollow tube with a sharp edge shears a clean plug of material when pressed through, so the work needs a cutting mat or board underneath. Edge sharpness and a square approach decide hole quality. Dull edges tear leather rather than cut it.
