Overview
An angler building a basic tackle kit gets pistol grip pliers, a trigger pull fish gripper, a fillet knife, a folding line snip and a fly fishing retractor. The metal parts are carbon steel and stainless steel.
One kit covering hook removal, gripping, cutting and line trimming is the reason to look at it. The limitation is that the style line says four pieces while five items are named, so the actual count is unclear.
Who it's for
Shore and boat anglers who handle fish regularly get the basic tools together. People who need published tool sizes should look at a listing that gives them.
Pros and cons
- Several tools in one kit
- Lanyards and sheath included
- Saltwater resistant per title
- Two year warranty
- Piece count conflicts
- Tool dimensions not listed
- Carbon steel can rust if neglected
Performance notes
Pistol grip pliers give leverage for pulling hooks, and a trigger gripper holds a fish by the lip without a hand in its mouth. Stainless parts resist corrosion, while carbon steel parts need drying after saltwater.
