Overview
Cutting through a live mix is the job of this Tama steel snare, which has a thin steel shell and a matte black finish. It also works at lower tunings, so a studio drummer can tune it down for fatter sound.
Versatile tuning range and a bright attack are the reasons to consider it. The title and model code point to one size while the description talks about another, so the diameter needs confirming before purchase.
Who it's for
For a working or recording drummer who needs a bright steel voice that can also be tuned low. Anyone who needs a documented size should ask the seller first.
Pros and cons

- Thin steel shell
- Matte black finish
- Works at low tunings
- Size conflict in listing
- Stand not included
- Weight data looks unreliable
Performance notes
The steel body rings brightly and cuts through loud stage volume, while lowering the tuning gives a fatter sound for recording. Snare wires and head tension still decide how crisp each stroke feels.
