Epson Home Cinema 3800 4K PRO-UHD 3LCD Projector

Overview

Movie fans and console gamers get a three-chip LCD projector built around PRO-UHD enhancement and HDR support. Content arrives over HDMI, and a built-in speaker and Bluetooth are listed for sound.

Brightness and contrast are the reasons to look at this projector: it targets a room where the light is controlled, and the stated HDMI standard supports HDR gaming from current consoles and streaming devices. The limits are in the paperwork. Throw distance is listed in a way that cannot be right, and no lens shift, zoom range or fan noise is given.

Who it's for

A home theater room with controlled light suits this unit, with a game console or streaming device on the HDMI input. Small rooms and ceiling installs need extra checking, because mounting is listed as tabletop and the throw distances in the listing cannot be trusted.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Picture quality depends on how much ambient light reaches the screen, because a lumen rating is a fixed output and contrast is judged in a dark room. The PRO-UHD processing enhances resolution on top of the native pixel grid, and HDR handling adjusts tone for compatible sources. Placement matters too: image size grows with distance, so check the throw range with the maker's calculator before shelving or drilling.
