Overview
US Stove builds this freestanding cast iron wood stove with legs and a cool touch safety handle. It burns wood logs in a black cast iron firebox and covers a stated heated area for a single space.
Cast iron heat for a compact room is the reason to look at it, with the firebox covered longer than the other parts. The limitation is information: no efficiency rating appears and the venting line reads direct vent, which needs a check before installing.
Who it's for
Owners of a small cabin or workshop who split their own wood and want a stove that stands on its own legs. The legs come in the box. Households wanting whole-home heat or a certified efficiency figure should consider a larger stove.
Pros and cons
- Cast iron body holds heat
- Cool touch safety handle
- Legs included in the box
- Lifetime firebox warranty
- Heating area limited to one space
- Efficiency rating not given
- One year on other parts
- Heavy to position
Performance notes
Wood burns in the firebox, and the cast iron body absorbs that heat and radiates it into the room after the fire dies down. Coverage in the listing applies to one open space, and burn time depends on the wood used and how far the damper is closed.
