Best forYou are fitting a kitchenette or rental suite with a 220-240V circuit available

A well-priced hard-wired two burner for small kitchens where knob control and any-cookware compatibility matter more than raw output. Budget for an electrician if you are not confident with 220V.

Overview

Karinear's KNC-D23002 is a 12 inch built-in ceramic cooktop with two independent radiant elements and nine power levels per zone, operated by knobs rather than touch controls. It is hard wired for 220-240V with no plug, and includes residual heat indicators and over-temperature shutoff.

Two burners in a 12 inch cutout is a specific solution to a specific problem: kitchenettes, rental suites, tiny homes and secondary prep areas where a full width cooktop will not fit and a portable hotplate looks temporary. The knob control is the other deliberate choice. Touch panels are sensitive to spills and wet fingers, and knobs are easier for older users and less likely to be triggered accidentally by a pet or a child.

  • 12 inch built-in, two radiant zones
  • 220-240V hard wire, no plug
  • Residual heat indicator and over-temp shutoff
  • Nine power stages, knob control

Who it's for

Best suited to accessory kitchens, rental units and small kitchen remodels where a hard-wired 220-240V circuit already exists or an electrician is part of the job. Radiant ceramic works with any pan, including aluminum, copper and non-magnetic stainless, so no cookware replacement is needed. Anyone expecting to plug it in should look at a portable model instead, because this one has no cord.

What buyers say

From Amazon customer reviews.

Buyers repeatedly describe installation as straightforward if you have basic electrical knowledge, with clearly labeled wiring and one owner finishing the swap from an old electric cooktop in under an hour. The glass surface and knob feel draw consistent praise, and one landlord chose it for a rental specifically because knobs are more reliable for tenants than touch sensors. Two criticisms stand out: one buyer found the burners do not get as hot as their previous electric stove and that the control layout does not line up with the burner positions, and a one-star reviewer had a unit stop heating just past a year with no response to a warranty claim.

Strengths and trade-offs

Drawn from this product's published specifications.

What stands out
  • Fits a 12 inch cutout with two full zones
  • Knob control resists spills and accidental touches
  • Works with any cookware including copper and aluminum
  • Nine power levels per zone
What to check first
  • Hard wired only, no plug supplied
  • Runs cooler than some full size electric hobs
  • Glass surface stays hot after switch-off
  • Reports of failures around the one year mark

Performance notes

Radiant ceramic heats a coil beneath the glass, so unlike induction it works with any pan material and the surface stays hot after the element is switched off. That is exactly what the residual heat indicators are for. Nine power steps give more granularity than a typical three or four setting hob, and over-temperature protection shuts the unit down if internal heat climbs too high. Cleanup is a wipe of the flat glass once cool.

Frequently asked

Questions about the Karinear KNC-D23002

Common buyer questions answered straight from the product spec data - no fluff, no "it depends".

Does the Karinear KNC-D23002 come with a plug?

No. It is supplied for hard wiring to a 220-240V supply, so it needs to be connected at a junction box rather than plugged into an outlet.

What cookware works on this cooktop?

Any type. Because it is radiant ceramic rather than induction, aluminum, copper, cast iron and non-magnetic stainless all work.

Are the controls touch or knob?

Knobs. Karinear specifies knob control deliberately as easier for people with poor eyesight and less prone to accidental activation than a touch panel.
