Overview
A family heading out on a hike or camping trip gets four handheld FRS radios in different colors, each with a digital display and a belt clip. They connect to other FRS-compliant radios and add NOAA weather alerts.
Parents get enough radios for a whole group plus weather alerts, call alerts and a Roger beep to signal the end of a message. The range claim is a maximum, and obstacles will cut it.
Who it's for
Campers and neighbors who stay outdoors will find the colors help tell the radios apart. Anyone working in wet conditions or needing guaranteed long range should look at rugged models.
Pros and cons
- Four radios in one set
- Belt clips included
- NOAA weather alerts
- Call alert and Roger beep
- Batteries not included
- Not water resistant
- Range depends on terrain

Performance notes
The listed range is a maximum figure, so real distance will be shorter around hills, trees or buildings. Call alert signals the other radios, and the display shows the channel in use.
