Overview
Not a conventional rounded head, the Black Ops driver uses a mallet shape with AMF titanium technology and a lightweight carbon crown and sole. A graphite shaft and a synthetic rubber grip complete the club.
Precision Weighting allows custom tuning for spin, bias and moment of inertia. A non-uniform bulge and roll are meant to help accuracy on off-center hits. Natural frequency optimization is aimed at sound and feel.
Who it's for
Players who like to tweak ball flight through movable weights are the audience. Anyone needing another loft, flex or hand orientation has to look at other configurations.
Pros and cons
- Mallet head with tunable weighting
- Lightweight carbon crown and sole
- AMF titanium technology
- Stiff flex only
- Right-hand orientation only
- Single loft offered
Performance notes
Weighting can be moved to change spin, bias and forgiveness, so the setup decides the ball flight. The bulge and roll on the face reduce the penalty on strikes away from the center, while the lighter crown and base free up weight elsewhere in the head.
