Overview
Not a home-practice keyboard, the RD-2000 EX is a stage piano with two sound engines and a progressive hammer-action keybed, sold here with a stand, sustain pedal and bench. Controller functions let it drive other sound sources too.
Weighted keys and a hammer-action keybed give a performer a realistic touch, and the bundle covers the stand, pedal and seat in one purchase. Built-in speakers are not described, so sound has to go to an amplifier or headphones.
Who it's for
A working keyboardist who plays through an amplifier or a PA will use the keybed and controller features. A casual learner looking for a self-contained home piano should choose a simpler instrument.
Pros and cons
- Progressive hammer-action keybed
- Two sound engines
- Stand, pedal and bench included
- Built-in speakers not listed
- Listing weight and size look like package data
- Bench and stand makers not named
Performance notes
The hammer-action keybed weights the keys so touch translates into dynamics, while two sound engines generate the tones. Advanced controller functions allow it to trigger external sounds over its connections.
