Overview
A coach pitch or machine pitch field is where this Rawlings Icon Junior is meant to be used, a composite USSSA bat sized for kids with a wide barrel. Barrel and handle are both composite, and the swing weight leans slightly toward the end.
A composite build in a short, light size gives a young hitter a different option from the usual alloy, and the slight end-load adds momentum. The limitation is the contradiction over piece count and the absence of any barrel technology description.
Who it's for
Kids in coach pitch or machine pitch leagues who are ready for a composite bat in a short length. Older players, and leagues that need other stamps, should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Composite barrel and handle
- Piece count conflicts between title and specs
- Barrel technology not described
- Single length shown
Performance notes
A composite barrel is tuned in its layup for feel and energy, while the slight end-load adds mass toward the tip. The light drop makes the bat easier for a small hitter to start. USSSA certification sets the limit on barrel performance.
