Overview
Marching with the included backpack strap and hard case, a player carries this F mellophone built from high grade brass with monel pistons and a nickel plated finish. Two mouthpieces come in the kit.
The listing aims at students and intermediate players and describes a rich tone with stable pitch. Having both a French horn and a trumpet mouthpiece in the box lets the player try each setup.
Who it's for
A marching band member or youth corps player will use the strap and case on the field and the oil for valve upkeep. Professionals comparing technical figures will find very little detail.
Pros and cons
- Two mouthpieces included
- Hard case and strap included
- Nickel plated brass
- Valve oil included
- Bell and bore sizes not listed
- Mouthpiece cup depths not given
Performance notes
Monel pistons give the valves a smooth, wear-resistant action, and the choice between French horn and trumpet mouthpieces changes the feel and tone color. The F key places the horn between a trumpet and a French horn in range.
