Overview
Tightlining small bead-head flies is the job this ultra light combo is built for, pairing a high-modulus carbon rod with a minimalist micro reel. It comes preloaded with a hand-tied Euro nymph leader, sighter and tippet ring.
A matched rod, reel and ready-rigged line let a Euro nymph angler fish soon after unboxing, and the light build aims at feel and direct contact with the flies. The limit of that focus is narrow use, since this is a dedicated tightline outfit and not an all-round trout kit.
Who it's for
A tightline angler working tiny flies in clear trout water who values low swing weight. Dry fly anglers and those after larger fish should look at a heavier setup.
Pros and cons
- Ultra light rod power
- High-modulus carbon construction
- Micro reel adds little swing weight
- Leader, sighter and tippet ring preloaded
- Specialist tightline use only
- Warranty not listed
- Line weight and capacity fields are garbled
Performance notes
High-modulus carbon recovers quickly after a cast, which tightens loops and aids accuracy with small flies. A long, ultra light blade and a micro reel hold swing weight down, so the angler feels the flies through the line. The rigged leader sets the drift and strike detection, and the colored section shows takes.
