Best OverallA clear builder gel for adding strength, an apex and extra length within the CND Shellac system. It cures under the CND LED Lamp, so it suits salons and home kits already set up that way.
A brush-on colored builder gel that adds strength and length in one step for nail techs and skilled home users. The listing does not state curing lamp requirements.
A brush-on, self-leveling builder gel for strengthening and short extensions at home. It needs an LED or UV lamp, which is not listed as included.
A clear hard builder gel for tip overlays and sculpted extensions that cures under UV with acrylic-like strength. It needs a lamp, prep and removal skills, none of which are included.
Popular PickAn easy spreading gel for tortoiseshell, marble and watercolor nail art at home. It needs a UV or LED lamp and carries clear safety warnings, so it suits adults with a gel setup only.
A forgiving builder for nail techs and students who want acrylic-like strength without monomer odor. It needs Slip Solution, a brush and an LED lamp, none of which are listed in the box.
An easy way to make marble and watercolor nail art over gel polish with an LED lamp. It needs a gel system and lamp to work, so it is no use with regular air-dry polish.
A versatile clear builder for anyone doing gel tips or overlays at home or at a nail desk. It needs a curing lamp, which the listing does not include.
A clear, moldable nail gel that stays workable until cured, for sculpted art, rhinestones and gel extensions. Curing needs a lamp, and the listing is unclear on whether one is included.
A self-leveling builder gel for sculpting natural-looking nail extensions with soak-off removal. It is labeled for licensed professional use only.
A starter kit with builder gel, primer, topcoat, forms and files for sculpting nail extensions. A curing lamp is absent from the kit list, so check that you have one.

A listing appears only when it has a recorded price, a minimum customer rating, and enough ratings or monthly sales. Generic and unbranded listings are left out, while every real brand stays, including brands sold only on Amazon. The ones that pass are ordered by how many people search for that brand and model each month; review counts only break ties.
Nail gels are polishes that cure under a lamp, giving a harder, longer lasting finish than regular nail polish. A gel manicure is a system rather than one bottle: a base coat, the colour coat and a top coat, each cured in turn, and this category also includes the cleansers and primers that go with it. The first decision is whether you already have a compatible lamp, because gels do not dry in air.
Lamp compatibility matters more than most listings make clear. Most modern gels cure under the lamps sold for home gel manicures, but curing times differ between brands, and mixing a base from one system with a colour from another can lead to peeling. If you are starting from scratch, buy a kit or stay within one brand for base, colour and top coat.
Removal is the next choice. Soak off gels come off with acetone and gentle scraping, while builder and hard gels usually need filing. Peeling gel off by hand damages the natural nail, so plan for proper removal from the start.
Before buying, check whether the bottle is a base, colour, top coat or a full set, what lamp and curing time the maker recommends, and whether a cleanser or primer is needed. Avoid getting uncured gel on the skin, since repeated contact can cause allergic reactions, and wipe off any spills before curing.
