How does ProductDome pick these sunscreens?
A listing appears only when it has a recorded price, a minimum customer rating, and enough ratings or monthly sales. Generic and unbranded listings are left out, while every real brand stays, including brands sold only on Amazon. The ones that pass are ordered by how many people search for that brand and model each month; review counts only break ties.
About sunscreens
Sunscreens use mineral filters, chemical filters or a combination, so the active ingredients differ even when the protection claims look similar. Lotion, Cream and Gel describe available forms, but those labels alone cannot tell you how a sunscreen will spread or feel. Start by deciding what protection claims your use requires, including whether you expect exposure to water or sweat.
Look for broad spectrum protection on the packaging, which indicates coverage against both main types of ultraviolet radiation. Among the 127 products that list sun protection factor, most fall between 30 and 50 spf, and 50 spf is typical. The sun protection factor filter cannot tell you whether a formula has that broader coverage or is rated for swimming. For swimming or sweaty activity, start with Water Resistant and read the conditions and duration stated on the label; Not Water Resistant does not carry that claim. Advertised protection depends on applying the directed amount and following reapplication instructions, so a higher sun protection factor is not permission to apply less or leave longer gaps. Read the directions for reapplication after swimming, sweating or towel drying, even when the sunscreen carries a water resistance claim.
Ingredient sensitivities, visible finish and compatibility with makeup can further narrow your choice. If you have a known sensitivity, compare the full ingredient list with the substances you need to avoid; a mineral or chemical description cannot settle that question. Some mineral formulas leave visible residue, but the finish of any sunscreen depends on the complete formula and your skin tone. For facial use, seek information about how the tint or untinted finish looks on a complexion similar to yours. If you wear makeup, look for specific guidance about layering and drying time, because pilling can make the sunscreen difficult to apply evenly.
Before buying, read the directions for permitted application areas and any age restrictions, especially for a child. Compare the pack’s net contents with the areas you plan to cover and how frequently you expect to apply it; a small facial tube may be inconvenient for regular full-body use. For multipacks, establish whether the stated amount is per container or combined. Check any available expiry information against when you expect to finish the pack, and read the storage instructions before planning to keep sunscreen in a hot car or beach bag.
