Overview
A magnifying tube enlarges the scale numbers on this AcuRite rain gauge, so the water level is easy to read at a glance. The body is plastic and weather resistant, and it is meant for outdoor use in a garden or yard.
Simple reading and a rain-rate purpose suit someone who wants to know when to water. The spec rows list a battery and a digital display, which contradicts the mechanical description, and no mounting stake is mentioned.
Who it's for
Home gardens and lawns can track rain with a clear scale and no setup. Weather enthusiasts who want data logging, or a wireless station, need a digital product.
Pros and cons
- Magnified numbers on the scale
- Simple reading, no setup
- Capacity limited to the stated rainfall
- Battery and digital terms in specs conflict
- Mounting method not listed
Performance notes
Rain collects in the tube and is read against a magnified scale, so reading accuracy depends on viewing the level straight on. Mechanical gauges have no moving electronics, and the capacity sets how much rain is measured before the tube overflows.
