Overview
Not a digital or wireless weather station, this Taylor gauge is a plain tube on a tapered stake that pushes into a garden bed, lawn or open soil. Metallic printing marks the scale, and the plastic is weather resistant.
Reason to buy: the stake pushes in anywhere and the markings are clear, so checking rainfall takes seconds. Limitation: it needs emptying after each reading and the listing does not state its measuring increments.
Who it's for
Home weather watchers and gardeners checking whether irrigation is needed will find the tube and stake simple to place and move. Those who need logged totals or a post-mounted gauge should look at another type.
Pros and cons
- Reflective printed markings
- Stake pushes into soil
- Weather resistant plastic
- Light and easy to move
- Measuring increments not listed
- Needs emptying after readings
- Ground stake only, no mounting bracket
- No digital readout
Performance notes
Rain falls into the tube and you read the level against the printed scale, so placement in open ground away from trees matters most for accuracy. The tapered stake holds the tube upright in soil, and the plastic resists cracking and fading in sun.
