Overview
Carrying S/PDIF digital audio, composite video and other line level RCA signals, this coaxial cable has a copper outer material, a round black jacket and RCA plugs at each end.
Monoprice states the cable is rated for conducting S/PDIF audio and composite video, and the CL2 rating and indoor or outdoor listing widen where it can run. The connector gender entry reads female and male together, so confirm the plug types you need before buying.
Who it's for
Home theater setups that link a disc player, TV and amplifier through RCA jacks suit this lead. Anyone wiring modern HDMI gear or looking for a particular plug gender should check the listing first.
Pros and cons
- Rated for S/PDIF and composite video
- Indoor and outdoor use listed
- Copper outer material
- Connector gender entry is ambiguous
- Single length offered in this listing
- Not an HDMI or optical cable
Performance notes
Signal quality on a coaxial RCA lead depends on conductor build, shielding and connector contact. A digital S/PDIF signal tolerates short runs well, while composite video shows noise if the cable is poorly shielded or routed beside power lines. The listing quotes a frequency and a data rate, but real results still depend on the equipment at each end.
