Overview
Not a fully hollow archtop, the Electromatic Center Block Jr. is a chambered semi-hollow with humbuckers and a vibrato that bends notes smoothly. Maple makes up the top, body, back and neck, with a laurel fretboard on top.
Gretsch character shows in the twang and bite, with enough range for blues, jazz, rockabilly and indie styles. The center block adds sustain. Weight is worth noting, and no accessories are listed.
Who it's for
Meant for a guitarist who likes bark and bite from humbuckers and a smooth vibrato for bending. Anyone who wants a fixed bridge for tuning stability should consider a different guitar.
Pros and cons
- Chambered center block
- Bright, twangy voice
- No case or cable listed
- Vibrato needs careful tuning
- Weighs more than a slab body
Performance notes
A chambered spruce center block adds sustain without losing hollow-body air, and humbucking pickups deliver bite for blues and rockabilly. The vibrato lets you bend notes evenly, though it can pull the tuning if abused.
