Overview
Not a plain bucket gauge, this is a wireless rain station that reports rainfall, temperature and humidity to a digital indoor base. Several wireless sensors send readings, and a power adapter is listed with the base.
Checking overnight totals without going outside is the reason to buy: the rain bucket empties itself, sends data to the display and records history in a cylinder graph.
Who it's for
Gardeners who track rainfall for watering decisions will use the self-emptying bucket and the rain alert. The extra wireless sensors cover temperature and humidity as well. Those wanting a full weather station should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Self-emptying rain bucket
- Long transmission range
- Customizable rain alert
- Historical rain graph
- Batteries not included
- No wind data
Performance notes
The wide-mouth bucket collects rain and empties itself through a collection rocker, then the sensor transmits the reading to the base by radio. The base shows the numbers and charts history in a cylinder graph. Placement within the stated range and clear of obstructions decides reliability.
