A twelve speed Shimano chain that closes with a quick link, for drivetrains from cross country to enduro. The listed load rating row looks unreliable, so rely on the speed and link count.

Overview
Shimano's SLX chain is built for twelve speed trail drivetrains and comes at its full link count with a Quick Link. It is a single strand alloy steel chain recommended across cross country, all mountain, enduro and e-bike use.
A quick link lets the chain be joined and opened without special pins, which makes a swap in the garage straightforward. Coverage across riding styles gives one chain for several bikes. The limitation is that the load figure and length rows look inconsistent, and a chain tool may still be needed to trim to length.
Who it's for
Trail and e-bike riders replacing a worn chain on a matching twelve speed setup. Owners of other speed counts, or road bikes, should match the chain to the cassette first.
Pros and cons
- Quick Link included
- Twelve speed compatibility
- Alloy steel single strand
- Recommended for e-bike use
- Load figure looks unreliable
- Chain length row is unclear
- Shorter chains need trimming
Performance notes
Shifting quality depends on a chain matched to the number of rear gears, which is why speed count is the first thing to check. The Quick Link joins the ends so the chain can be fitted and removed with ease. Wear shows up as chain stretch, so regular measurement helps protect the cassette.
