The Zircon StudSensor A100 is a battery powered handheld wall scanner that locates wood and metal stud edges up to 1-1/2 inches deep and flags live electrical wires while you scan, guided by an LCD display, audio tone and a SpotLite marking pointer.
Two scan modes cover both standard drywall and thicker walls or ceilings, and the SpotLite pointer marks the edge directly on the surface instead of leaving you to guess between beeps. It runs on a single 9V battery, which is sold separately, and needs a short calibration step before every scan.
