Overview
Clipping bolts on a sport route is where this EDELRID Bulletproof express set works, a D-shape key-lock carabiner pair joined by a polyester and polyamide sling. A steel insert in the lower carabiner is described as protecting against premature wear.
Wear protection at the rope end is the point of the design, and the description calls the set extremely robust. Missing are the measurements and strength data a climber would compare.
Who it's for
Sport and gym climbers who want a durable key-lock draw for repeated use. Buyers who compare gate opening, strength or sling length should look at the manufacturer's data.
Pros and cons
- Steel insert resists rope wear
- Key Lock carabiners
- Color is easy to spot
- Sling length not stated
- Strength ratings missing
- Gate opening not given
Performance notes
The lower carabiner takes the rope through every clip, so the steel insert is aimed at stopping grooves that wear the metal. The key-lock nose is listed, and the sling material joins the two carabiners.
