Overview
A first-time producer gets a slim USB keyboard with mini velocity-sensitive keys and a light-up rocker. It connects to a laptop, phone or tablet, and a software package with teaching courses is bundled.
Lessons and software make the first session easy, and four operating systems are listed. The small keys and short warranty suit light use rather than heavy touring.
Who it's for
Students and hobbyists starting music production on a laptop, tablet or phone get a portable keyboard with courses. Experienced players wanting a wide key range or pads should look at a larger controller.
Pros and cons
- Works with Mac, Windows, Android and iOS
- Teaching courses included
- Lightweight plastic body
- Mini keys limit piano technique
- Short warranty period
- No pads or knobs listed
Performance notes
Velocity-sensitive keys send playing force to a software instrument, so touch changes the volume. USB links it to a computer or mobile device, and the bundled software gives sounds to start with.
