Overview
Spreading seed or granular fertilizer around planting beds, narrow lawn strips and pathways, this Agri-Fab handheld spreader hangs from a shoulder strap and feeds from a zip-top waterproof bag. An adjustable gate sets flow, and enclosed gears drive the spread.
Reason to buy: it reaches places larger spreaders cannot, and the zipper bag protects material from moisture. Limitation: it is carried and cranked by hand, so large lawns are tiring and the listing gives no spread width or coverage.
Who it's for
Gardeners with small beds, borders and pathways to seed or feed get a light unit that goes anywhere on foot. Owners of large turf areas will find hand-spreading slow and tiring.
Pros and cons
- Reaches tight spaces
- Waterproof bag with zipper top
- Adjustable shoulder strap
- Adjustable gate for flow control
- Spread width not listed
- Hand-carried, tiring on large areas
- Weight rises with a full bag
- Dimension entries look like package size
Performance notes
Material drops through the gate opening and is thrown out as you turn the crank, so the gate setting and your walking pace decide application rate. The rear baffle shields you from material, and the waterproof zipper bag protects the load from damp.
