Overview
A school band room with a low brass section is where this three-piston B flat tuba belongs, built as a gold lacquered brass instrument with stainless steel valves. A fabric hard case, gloves, cloth and valve oil come with it.
The kit supplies the case and care items a new tuba player needs, and the warm ensemble tone suits band use. The size and weight are significant, and the listing offers no bore or bell detail.
Who it's for
A high school or middle school low brass player will use the case and care kit from the first rehearsal. Anyone who must carry the instrument long distances or march with it should consider the weight.
Pros and cons
- Stainless steel pistons
- Complete accessory kit
- Fabric hard case included
- Warm, resonant sound
- Heavy and bulky
- Bore and bell sizes not listed
- Only three valves
Performance notes
Three stainless steel pistons change the tube length, and the large brass body produces a warm, resonant low register. The mouthpiece and the player's air support decide how clean low notes start.
