Best OverallArtist-grade wax pastels that turn to watercolor-style washes with water. The set is small and sold in a tin, and the stick format is not for dry-only buyers who want soft chalk pastel.
Firm pastel sticks for drawing, illustration and blending with less powder than traditional pastels. They suit detailed work more than broad soft-pastel layering.
Popular PickA large soft oil pastel set for coloring and drawing. The listing gives sparse detail, and the included lead holder is unexplained.
A soft oil pastel set with a named color list, suited to artists who like bold, saturated strokes. No warranty is given, and paper advice is missing.
A broad box of soft square pastels for blending, gradation and dry-wash work. The sticks are not water resistant, and the listing gives no stick length or pigment details.
A large assorted box of oil pastels for classrooms, poster work and community art groups. The listing gives no stick dimensions, weight or age guidance.
A kid-sized box of neon oil pastels that blend easily and will not roll off a desk. The marks are not water resistant, and the box holds a fixed set of twelve colors.
A water-soluble oil pastel set that works dry or with a wet brush for watercolor effects. The listing says colors may vary, and the specs also say not water resistant.
Pencil-format pastels for fine detail and soft transitions in drawings and sketches. The set is small and the listing says nothing about a sharpener or blending tool.
A school-friendly set of chunky oil pastels with a hex body and creamy laydown. The listing gives no paper advice beyond construction paper and no water-blending claim.
A broad set of square soft pastels meant for blending and shading, with no stick dimensions or lightfast rating given.

A listing appears only when it has a recorded price, a minimum customer rating, and enough ratings or monthly sales. Generic and unbranded listings are left out, while every real brand stays, including brands sold only on Amazon. The ones that pass are ordered by how many people search for that brand and model each month; review counts only break ties.
