Overview
Not a hard pastel or pencil, this Mungyo set is made of soft square chalk sticks that blend easily. The square body gives a flat edge for broad strokes, and the colors are marketed as vivid and fade-resistant.
A wide palette in one box gives room for layering and shading without hunting for extra sticks. The soft texture suits blending and gradation. The listing does not give stick dimensions or a pigment rating.
Who it's for
Students and home artists practicing blending, shading and dry-wash techniques. The set is listed for home and school use, and for adults. Artists who need pigment grades or water-resistant marks will want a different line.
Pros and cons
- Many colors in one box
- Soft texture blends smoothly
- Square shape for broad strokes
- Lightfast rating claimed
- Not water resistant
- Stick length not listed
- Pigment grade not stated
Performance notes
Soft chalk releases pigment under light pressure, so layers build and blend with a finger or tool. Square sticks give a broad face for wide lines and a corner for detail. Without water resistance, finished work needs a fixative or protective sleeve to resist smudging.
