Overview
Not an app based camera, the VB616 is a closed system with a camera and a screen that talk over a wireless link. The enclosure is flame-retardant plastic, the camera mounts several ways, and the monitor side runs on battery.
No account or network is needed, and the box holds both adapters and cords. The limitation is placement, since the listing says indoor use only and not water resistant.
Who it's for
A nursery with an outlet near the crib suits the corded camera and the battery screen. Parents who want phone viewing, outdoor use or cloud features should look at a Wi-Fi model.
Pros and cons
- No Wi-Fi needed
- Night vision with no glow
- Several mounting options
- Full kit in the box
- Indoor use only
- Not water resistant
- Zoom type listed inconsistently
Performance notes
Frequency hopping on the wireless link resists interference without a home network, and no-glow night vision uses light the baby cannot see. The camera is corded while the screen is battery powered.
