Overview
VTech builds the VM901 as a dome camera that pairs with a viewer and a phone app. The listing includes a wall mount, screws and anchors, and the camera can also sit freestanding on a tabletop.
Pan, tilt, zoom and starlight night vision cover most of a nursery with one camera. The limitation is that it works indoors only and the listing contradicts itself on battery versus AC power.
Who it's for
A parent who checks on a child from another room or from a phone is the situation described. Those who need weatherproof use or a plain audio monitor should look at a simpler model.
Pros and cons
- Full HD video
- Pan, tilt and zoom
- Starlight night vision
- Wall mount hardware included
- Indoor use only
- Not water resistant
- Power source fields conflict
- App required for remote control
Performance notes
A CMOS sensor with auto focus sets picture quality, while the starlight mode handles low light. The pan and tilt head widens coverage over a fixed lens. Remote viewing depends on the home Wi-Fi connection and the app.
