Overview
Not a handheld unit or a boombox, this is a dual-deck home cassette machine with direct dubbing in two speeds and RCA inputs and outputs for a stereo. A USB connection moves tape audio to MP3 on a computer.
Choose it to copy tapes between decks or to digitize a collection onto a PC or Mac. The limit is the thin listing, since it names no cables, software or remote in the box and gives no sound specifications.
Who it's for
A home user converting old mix tapes and recordings to MP3, or copying between two decks, will use the dubbing and USB features. People wanting portability, battery power or a wireless link should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Two cassette decks
- USB to MP3 conversion
- RCA inputs and outputs
- Supports CrO2 tapes
- Box contents not listed
- Home use only, not portable
- Mains power for US voltage only
Performance notes
Direct dubbing copies from one deck to the other without a computer, and the high speed setting shortens copy time. Dynamic noise suppression targets tape hiss during playback. For the USB route, the result depends on the recording software on the computer, which the listing does not name.
