Overview

TopScan Lite pairs a Bluetooth OBD2 scanner with a phone app for reading and clearing codes, running bidirectional tests, and performing resets across engine, ABS, SRS, transmission and other systems. Core diagnostics stay free for life; bidirectional control, live data and the AI assistant are free for the first year, then move to a subscription.

The headline feature is bidirectional control: instead of just reading codes, you can trigger a fan, injector or window from the app and watch which one fails to respond, narrowing down intermittent problems without pulling anything apart. The catch worth knowing before buying is the software tier: full system scans and code reading stay free forever, but bi-directional control, live data, code clearing and the TopFix AI assistant are only free for the first 12 months.

  • Bluetooth scanner pairs with iOS and Android
  • Bidirectional control tests injectors, fans, windows and wipers on command
  • 8 one-tap resets: oil, throttle, EPB, steering angle, DPF, ABS, BMS, airbag
  • TopFix AI assistant with repair database and OEM data

Who it's for

Fits a DIY owner or small shop that wants dealer-style bidirectional tests and eight one-tap resets (oil, throttle, EPB, steering angle, DPF, ABS, BMS, airbag) without buying a much pricier dealer tool. Less suited to someone who wants a one-time code reader with no future subscription decision.

Strengths and trade-offs

Drawn from this product's published specifications.

What stands out
  • Bidirectional tests isolate a failing component precisely
  • Eight one-tap resets cover oil, ABS, EPB, DPF, BMS, airbag
  • Core code reading and full scans stay free forever
  • Covers ABS, SRS and transmission, not just the engine
What to check first
  • Bi-directional control, live data and AI drop to subscription after year one
  • Gateway unlock for FCA, Renault or Nissan needs a separate account

Performance notes

Bidirectional control works by sending commands from the phone through the scanner to the ECU, so you can activate a component on command and confirm it responds, which is how the tool locates a fault instead of just naming a code. The TopFix AI assistant pulls from a repair database and OEM data to suggest likely causes, and the tool also unlocks FCA, Renault and Nissan security gateways for full-system access on those brands, provided you have your own gateway account.
