Core diagnostics stay free for life; bidirectional control, live data and the AI assistant are free for the first year, then move to a subscription.
The headline feature is bidirectional control: instead of just reading codes, you can trigger a fan, injector or window from the app and watch which one fails to respond, narrowing down intermittent problems without pulling anything apart. Performance notes
Bidirectional control works by sending commands from the phone through the scanner to the ECU, so you can activate a component on command and confirm it responds, which is how the tool locates a fault instead of just naming a code. The TopFix AI assistant pulls from a repair database and OEM data to suggest likely causes, and the tool also unlocks FCA, Renault and Nissan security gateways for full-system access on those brands, provided you have your own gateway account.
