Overview
A home theater with a Dolby Atmos layout is what Jamo aims this flagship tower at, with three aluminized polyfiber woofers and a soft dome tweeter in a floorstanding cabinet. Connection points on top of each cabinet accept the matching ATM topper for the overhead effect.
The Atmos-ready top connection and the three-woofer design are the reasons to consider the S 809. The limitation is clarity: the listing lists Wi-Fi and wired together, a one channel count for a stereo pair, and the topper itself is a separate part.
Who it's for
Home theater builders adding overhead channels to a tower pair will get the most from this design. It is not a wireless speaker, and anyone who needs a plug-and-play streaming system should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Three woofers per tower
- Soft dome tweeter
- Topper connection points for Atmos
- Stereo and surround output modes
- Topper module sold separately
- Listing connection data conflicts
- Unusual weight and dimensions listed
Performance notes
Three woofers share bass duty, so each cone works less for a given volume. The soft dome tweeter handles the highs with a smooth character according to the description. Overhead effects depend on adding the matching topper and a processor that supports Dolby Atmos.
