Overview
Pairing a larger Tractrix horn with updated copper-spun Cerametallic woofers, these floorstanders aim for cinematic dynamics. A vented tweeter design and Tractrix ports round out the second-generation Reference Premiere series, and an amplifier or receiver drives them.
Choose them for big, dynamic sound in a large stereo room or movie room from a known speaker series. The limit is listing accuracy and size: the dimensions look like packaging, power and connection fields are muddled, and a pair this large needs space and a capable amplifier.
Who it's for
A listener with a dedicated living room or theater and a capable receiver will use the horn and the big woofers. Buyers who want wireless playback, a compact cabinet or car use should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Horn-loaded tweeter design
- Large Cerametallic woofers
- Large and heavy cabinets
- Listed dimensions look like packaging
- Compatibility fields contain errors
- Needs a separate amplifier
Performance notes
A horn shapes how the tweeter's sound spreads into the room, and large woofers move more air for low notes while the ports reinforce bass. Room size and amplifier power decide how loud and clean they play before strain appears.
