Overview
A carbon-wrapped graphite blank gives this spinning rod its stiffness and twist resistance, while a hollow carbon grip carries vibration to the hand. The reel seat is Shimano's Ci4+ carbon-infused polymer.
Each named part aims at feel: the blank at sharp hooksets, the grip at vibration, the seat at low weight. The result is a specialist freshwater bass tool for spinning gear. Guide details, handle length and a lure weight range never appear in the listing.
Who it's for
A freshwater angler throwing bass lures on spinning gear who wants a sensitive grip and a stiff blank. Travelers needing a multi-piece rod, and anglers wanting heavy cover tools, are outside what this one-piece medium outfit covers.
Pros and cons
- Carbon-wrapped blank resists twist
- Hollow carbon grip carries vibration
- Lightweight Ci4+ reel seat
- Fast action for quick hooksets
- One-piece rod is long to transport
- Lure weight entry unusable
- Guide details not listed
Performance notes
Fast action means the rod bends mostly near the tip, which speeds the hookset and flicks light lures out. Carbon wrapping stiffens the blank against twisting under load, and the hollow carbon grip passes vibration from line to hand. Medium power suits mid-weight lures, and the stated line rating sets the working limit.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Shimano Zodias 70 M spinning rod break down for travel?
No. It is listed as a single piece, so the full 7 foot length rides in the vehicle.
Is the Shimano Zodias spinning rod suitable for saltwater?
The listing gives freshwater as the technique and names bass and freshwater fish as targets. No saltwater use is described.
What lure weight does the Shimano Zodias spinning rod handle?
The lure weight field reads 5 pounds, which looks like a listing error for a spinning rod. Use the 6 pound line rating as the guide.
