Overview
Winegard built the Sensar IV as an HDTV antenna for recreational vehicles, with a long white body that collects broadcast signals and passes them to the TV on a coaxial lead.
The listing places it squarely in the RV category and gives a range in miles, which makes coverage easier to judge than on some antennas. The main limitation is a bare list of contents, so mounting parts and the cable run are left for the buyer to confirm.
Who it's for
Travelers who park an RV and want over-the-air channels at campsites suit this antenna. Home users with a standard roof or attic mount, or buyers who need a short unit, should look at a different model.
Pros and cons
- Built for recreational vehicles
- Range quoted in miles
- Two year parts warranty
- Large body to find room for
- Mounting parts not named in the listing
- Weighty for a single antenna
Performance notes
Reception depends on the distance to the transmitters, terrain and any trees or buildings in the path. A vehicle changes position at each stop, so signal strength and the best aiming direction change from site to site. The impedance must match the TV input, and a long or damaged cable run reduces what reaches the tuner.
