Overview
Not a random orbit sander, this Skil is a rectangular quarter sheet palm sander with a pressure control feature. It ships with a paper punch plate and a single sheet of abrasive paper.
The reason to look is a small, light sander that fits one hand and takes sheet paper cut to size. The limit is that it is a modest motor with a rectangular pad, which suits small flat surfaces and not large areas.
Who it's for
Homeowners and hobbyists who want a light tool for small projects. The punch plate helps turn sheet paper into pad-ready pieces. Large or demanding jobs need a stronger sander.
Pros and cons
- Light for one-hand use
- Pressure control feature
- Punch plate included
- Sandpaper sheet included
- Modest motor rating
- Rectangular pad limits reach
- Only one sheet in the box
Performance notes
Fast orbital motion with a rectangular pad lets the sander reach into square corners that round pads miss. Paper grit sets how fast it removes material. Pressure control is meant to prevent bearing down too hard, which would slow the motor and mark the work.
