Overview
A Petzval triplet lens does the imaging work in this Svbony tube, built for camera use rather than visual observing. A handle with a Vixen finder saddle and a dovetail plate give it ways to attach to a mount.
The kit is thoughtful, with the autofocus adapter, filter holder, handle, lens cover and case all in the box. Size and weight are in the specs, but the mount type is listed only as a kit with an unspecified type, so check compatibility.
Who it's for
A deep sky imager with a full-frame camera and a mount that takes a dovetail. A visual observer should not buy it, since no eyepiece is listed.
Pros and cons
- Autofocus adapter in the kit
- Padded case included
- Handle with finder saddle
- Mount type not specified
- Focal length shown only as a slash
Performance notes
A Petzval design flattens the image field, so stars stay round toward the edges of a large sensor. Precision focus and the electronic autofocus adapter reduce drift between exposures. The wide field suits large nebulae, and the listing does not say how far the variable aperture opens.
